RGI Ltd. was founded in 1993 by Bob Fonow, a cross cultural turnaround executive, advisor and mentor to executives and government officials in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States. He is a founding director of the Asia Transformation and Turnaround Association (ATTA) in Hong Kong. Since 2013 he serves as chairman of RGI's mentoring and educations services subsidiary, Revenue Growth Consulting Company China, (Beijing Mao Rui Zixun Youxian Gongsi).
As an executive troubleshooter, Bob Fonow has conducted turnarounds as president, Sprint Japan; general manager, Scientific Atlanta Shanghai (manufacturing): president of SFA DataComm in the United States (manufacturing) , managing director operations, Red Cube in Zurich; and as the General Sales Manager for an ITT division in London and Europe (manufacturing).
In 2011-2012, while studying Mandarin, he served as the consulting president of Comrise China, a US owned HR consulting firm with eight offices in China. During this period he also consulted on two US government funded projects in Ramallah, Palestine.
From 2006 - 2008 Bob Fonow served as the U.S. State Department Senior IT and Telecommunications Advisor to the government of Iraq on reconstruction, operations, human capacity building and regulatory legislation. Bob was the senior coordinator of many Iraqi, American and international telecom and ICT professionals during a critical period of insurrection and instability. Thanks to an extraordinary effort of many talented people, the ICT sector in Iraq is widely acknowledged as a reconstruction successes in Iraq, still functioning as the country's telecom infrastructure today.
Since 1993 Fonow has consulted on projects for numerous international clients such as PwC, British Telecom, Korea Telecom, Infonet, several government agencies and NGOs. He has completed several monographs and classified studies on the development of the physical infrastructure of the Internet for the Center for Technology and National Security Policy at the US National Defense University (CTNSP), where he remains an occasional consultant.
Mr. Fonow was educated at the London School of Economics (LSE) (MSc.Econ.) and St. David's College, University of Wales (BA Hons.). In 2012 he was appointed an Honorary Fellow of the University of Wales for strategic planning and turnaround advisory services. Prior to university, Fonow served in the United States Air Force in Japan, Italy and England in electronic and data communications analysis positions.
Mr. Fonow speaks on cross-cultural strategy, human resources, operations turnarounds and problem solving at business seminars, universities and government institutions around the world. Bob Fonow resides in Beijing, where he has served as a co-chair on Amcham China's ICT Forum, and is Chairman of RGI's China subsidiary, which includes both RGI's corporate services and Discover Club.
RGI's Discover Club is an education services company in the university area in Beijing offering individual learning programs in English for high achieving students. In addition, Discover Club offers a unique set of services in English to underperforming students and those with learning challenges.
Karen (Ling Ling) Zhang is Director of Administration for Revenue Growth Consulting (Beijing Mao Rui), the Beijing based operating company of RGI Ltd. Karen has eleven years of administrative experience, working in the technology, trading and real estate sectors in China.
Karen is experienced in all aspects of foreign business operations in China including company registration, banking, taxation and government relations. She assists and advises RGI client companies on the complex daily operations of start up and mid-sized company administrative operations in China.
Karen majored in International Business and English at Beijing Application Technical College.
She is a native of Beijing and studied English in Australia.
Fang Min - "Echo", Project Manager
Fang Min, also known as "Echo", is RGI's Asian linguist and the company's project manager for Cross Culture Training Systems, based in Beijing and Hanoi. Echo has managed exchange programs for language schools, designed curricula for new schools, trained foreign and local staff at international companies and translated for business executives and charity groups. She recently developed Chinese language marketing and training materials for RGI's troubleshooting and consulting services in China and assists with Japan and Asia business development.
Echo Fang Min was awarded a BA in English and Japanese from Beijing's prestigious Foreign Studies University in 2007. In addition to fluency in English and Japanese she is conversational in Spanish and fluent in two local Chinese dialects as well as Mandarin. Echo completed her Chinese language teaching certification at Beijing Language and Cultural University in 2008.
In 2010 Echo completed a MSc Developmental Anthropology at Durham University in England to enhance her understanding of cross cultural marketing and communications. She has lived in Hanoi for the last three years and has professional competence in Vietnamese.
